HARAM is the upcoming television series of actor Dingdong Dantes and actress Kylie Padilla on GMA-7 which is shelved temporarily by the network.
“Haram,” which means forbidden, revolves on the love story between a soldier(Dingdong Dantes) who is of Christian faith, and a Muslim woman(Kylie Padilla). The friendship and their union were prohibited because of their different religious beliefs. “Haram” will also supposedly share the story of how a Muslim family “endeavor and strive to raise their children to be fitting and acceptable for Allah.”
“At the same time, the show aims to present the beautiful side and the dynamics of the Muslim family life in our contemporary times and the dynamics of religious and cultural pluralism, with the desire to promote better understanding and mutual respect among people of various faith traditions,” the network statement added.
GMA network released its official statement last Friday saying that the management has decided to shelve the drama series due to the current tense atmosphere all over the world and in solidarity and in respect to the entire Muslim Community.”
The hostile global response almost simultaneously occurred when the controversial movie trailer of “Mohammed Innocence of Muslims” was released in youtube few weeks ago.
